The passage to Hawaii this time of year is supposed to be easy, a very good way to break oneself in as a blue water sailor. So far it is proving rough, and taking concentration and stamina.

Well from your responce,, it sounds that you are having a good break it time and it is by comparisson that things are meassured.. Just think,, this is what it is like when called an easy crossing,, what would it be like in the not so go times to cross? I am sure that you are up to the responce for this time. ( the course hard, still sailed ).. Good Sailing Coby, Watch each day for the green flash.
ReplyDelete<hmmm> From my readings and talking with sailors who've made this run, the stretch Coby is just getting out of now is actually *not* at its nicest at this time of year. It's calmest in late April through May, but the north end is worse then. It's windiest in June-July; best course at that time is to stay about 40 nm off shore because the wind is less likely to be gale and the current is higher.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm following this blog closely 'cuz I hope to be following Coby Aug. or Sept.
